THE POETRY OF ABANDONMENT: PORTRAITS

The Poetry of Abandonment: Portraits.

Poetry is expressed in text, on stage, in film and verse … I find it in the various aspects of Photography. Poetry is human, it begins with the senses, demands a strong response. My portraits look for those initial emotions, imagine what could follow. The majority of my portraits are made at public events where emotions are sincere and uninhibited. I attempt to record strongly felt responses to a contemporary issue: environmental, social or political, an issue where the stimulants to poetry are endangered. My subjects are motivated by an issue that is destructive, anti-poetic. Where poetry is smothered!

The portraits are explicitly about the human face and associated body language. It is the poetry of anger, of hope blended with camaraderie. A Saturday with friends, family.

My projects are centred on the theme of the Poetry of Abandonment/ The Abandonment of Poetry. The portraits represent a response to to the threat of poetic abandonment to prevent the Abandonment of Poetry.
